I am an award-winning freelance health journalist, writing features for national newspapers and magazines. My work has appeared in The Times, the Daily Telegraph, the Daily Mail, the i paper, Red magazine, Women’s Health, Grazia, ELLE UK, the Guardian, and the Observer, among others.
My first book, Life, Almost: Miscarriage, misconceptions, and a search for answers from the brink of motherhood, is being published by Transworld on February 9th, 2023.
I specialise in women’s health and enjoy unravelling and explaining science and medicine so it can be understood by even the most hopeless of arts graduates (like me). In 2019, I was highly commended in the freelance writer of the year category at the Medical Journalists Association Annual Awards. I also won an Association of British Science Writers’ award in 2016 for a piece on myths about the human metabolism.
As well as my journalism work, I am the author of the blog The Uterus Monologues, where I write about my own experience of recurrent miscarriage and share the stories of others who have not had a straightforward path to parenthood. I am always interested in commissions that address fertility, pregnancy and loss in all their complexity.
