About

Jennie-1_websize

I am an award-winning freelance features journalist with the best part of a decade’s experience writing, editing and commissioning for national newspapers and magazines. My work has appeared in Grazia, Red, the Daily Telegraph, the Daily Mail, The Times, Fabulous, Women’s Health, the New York Post, the Guardian, and the Observer, among others.

Before going freelance, I was Deputy Editor of Good Health, the Daily Mail’s weekly health section. Before that, I was an Associate Features Editor at the title.

My particular interest and expertise is in unravelling and explaining the science of health so it can be understood by even the most hopeless of arts graduates (like me). In 2019, I was highly commended in the freelance writer of the year category at the Medical Journalists Association Annual Awards. I also won an Association of British Science Writers’ award in 2016 for a piece on myths about the human metabolism.

As well as my journalism work, I am the author of the blog The Uterus Monologues, where I write about my own experience of recurrent miscarriage and curate the stories of others who have not had a straightforward path to parenthood. I am always interested in commissions that address fertility, pregnancy and loss in all its complexity.
